Legend has it

Legend has it that a long time ago lived two young people: Vesuvius was a young knight famous for his impulsive and also violent character, while Capri was a shy and reserved young woman.

Despite having such different characters, they were inexorably attracted to each other. Love changed Vesuvius; the sweetness of Capri managed to soften the character of Vesuvius, who thanks to the closeness of Capri became the best of all men.

Day after day they grew closer and confessed their everlasting love to each other, deciding to marry.

The families of the two lovers, however, hated each other and did not accept the union between the two; despite the pleas, promises and advice, Capri's family did not accept the marriage and decided to put an end to the romance by banishing the young woman.

This was the sorry fate of Capri who, separated from her beloved Vesuvius, felt as if her soul had been torn out of her. Then came her desperate decision: she said a short prayer and leapt to her death into the depths of the sea, not being able to bear even one day without her beloved.

And it was there, where she leapt to her death, that a blue and green island would emerge: the island of Capri.
